Here is the little Associated Press newsclip that got picked up in newspapers and posted on their websites. I also have a couple of pieces started about how it has all felt, but they still need to sit for a while. I have not yet fully digested the experience. But I didn’t want to wait any longer to tell you, my dear readers. I will say when I see the 857 entries it makes me gulp. And when I read about the community college professor who won the contest, I get a little thrill. It’s me, I think. It’s me.

Congratulations Riba! The contestant population was a weighty one.
And well-deserved it is, Riba. Congratulations (have shared this on my Facebook page)
Wonderful news, Riba! And cited for your empathy, indeed. : )
Best of 857! It is you Riba…I always knew you had it in you :-) Congratulations!
I’m on the bus right now on the last leg of a 13-plus-hour journey. I can’t begin to tell you all how dear it is for me to find your warm and lovely comments waiting here for me. Thank you each so much. I have to admit it still feels a little surreal, but reading your kind words warms my heart and makes it feel more real. :)
very excited for you, Riba. sent NYT link to writing circle and a few others who’d be interested. We’re delighted for you. (and hope to read your story some day!) : )
Thank you, Laurie! :)
